If you are not using Dropbox or some other automated system to keep your novel backed up, or heck, even if you are, back it up now. Right now. Go ahead. I'll wait.
Okay, now that you're done that, this is where you share your word counts and excerpts for day fifteen once you're done writing for the day. Commenting here will be your entry for the Midway Madness event (there will be a different post tomorrow for the word war).
Also, congratulations -- you've made it halfway through. That's quite an accomplishment and you should give yourself a reward for it. Ice cream anyone?
November 14 & 15
Weekend Word War Take Two
Write as much as you can between 12:01am Saturday the 14th and 11:59pm Sunday the 15th.
-Person with the highest weekend word count will win a knit beanie or scarf (donated by
caitak )
-Everyone who writes over 5,000 words over the weekend will have their name entered into a draw for free registration of a domain name for one year (donated by
stayawaystar )
November 15
Midway Madness
Are you at 25,000 words?
-Everyone with a word count of 25,000 words or more by 11:59pm on the 15th will have their name entered into a draw to win Fingerless Gloves (donated by
dogzilla30 --> http://www.exofficio.com/product_details.a spx?item_cd=3052-5023 )

i mostly wander around. always have.
it's amazing i've made it this far.
when i was a kid
i'd get sent out to the yard to pull weeds
and end up looking for four leaf clovers. my mind is more apt
to focus in on the moment
than to think about the future
or the past.

A book I photographed and designed the cover for recently came out. It's a stunning book of poetry by Michael Simms Click on the pic to see the back, and the full cover unfolded. If you are a poetry lover and interested in ordering the book, drop a note here and I'll pass it directly to the poet.

cooking
Hello! This year is my first year cooking for thanksgiving! I've always helped my mom out with the cooking, but this year i'll be doing it! I had a question about the turkey, how early should i take it out of the freezer and put it in the fridge to thaw out? I'll be starting it thursday morning, so is wednesday morning enough time? Also, I bought a pan with the rack on top for the turkey but i'm not sure if i'm supposed to cover the turkey with aluminum foil or leave it uncovered? I'm not sure how i should season it either. I know i should baste it throughout the cooking process but that's about all i know! so any suggestions or recommendations would be great! i'm a little new to this :(
Oh also, does anyone have a great traditional stuffing recipe???
Thank you :)

My mother got me some chicken, apple, and calvados sausages. Other than eat them like hot dogs, what on earth should I do with these beauties?

A quick cheesecake question

Hopefully someone is reading this early!
I have a delicious pumpkin cheesecake that I'm making for an early Thanksgiving party today, but I need to adjust the cooking time because I can't find the bottom for my 9 in. spring-form pan. I didn't want to fuss with the recipe, just made enough for the 9 in., but am going to use an 8-in. spring-form pan. I'm going to keep an eye on it of course, but should I adjust the cooking temperature as well as the cooking time? The recipe says to bake at 350 for 50 to 60 min. until center is set.
Any ideas on what to do with my left over batter? Can it keep for a few days in the fridge or should I use it right away?
TIA!
